Troopers arrest 9 for drunken driving, 14 others as Southeastern Mass. highway crackdown continues
Troopers arrested nine people for operating under the influence and caught one driver speeding at more than 100 miles per hour during the eighth week of the patrol surge along Route 24 and Interstate 195, State Police said. The extra patrols were stationed in Fall River and New Bedford Friday and Saturday nights, State Police said. One driver was arrested for OUI third offense and another was arrested for OUI second offense. State Police added the extra patrols in July after a series of crashes resulted in deaths and serious injuries. The added patrols will continue through the end of September.Melissa Werthmann can be reached email@example.com.
