Two small earthquakes were recorded off the coast of New England Saturday night and early Sunday, specialists at Boston College’s Weston Observatory say. The first, which measured about 2.5 in magnitude, happened at about 10:31 p.m. Saturday about 41 miles east of Rockport, according to the observatory’s seismic detection records. The second, which measured only 0.7, happened at about 3:28 a.m. Sunday about 33 miles southeast of Bar Harbor, Maine. They were “two little earthquakes,” said Justin Starr, a research assistant at the observatory. No one has reported feeling them, he said. “They were far enough offshore that it’s very unlikely people felt it,” he said.
