Police probe weekend gunpoint robbery in Brookline
Brookline police are investigating after a female Boston University student and her male friend were robbed at gunpoint this weekend while walking near Hamilton Avenue.
A pair of suspects approached the victims around 3 a.m. Sunday and asked them for the time, said Brookline Police Captain Thomas G. Keaveney. The student and her friend continued walking to their apartment.
The victims took a shortcut through an alley between Thorndike and Fuller streets that opens to Commonwealth Avenue, Keaveney said.
“They were followed into the alley,” he said. “They obviously didn’t realize it, of course, and that’s when they were held up.”
The suspects showed a handgun and took a wallet from the female victim and a phone from the male victim, Keaveney said.
Brookline police described the suspects on their blog.
The first is a black male, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5, about 16 years old, wearing a white zip-up sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a red baseball hat. The second is a black male, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, in his early 20s, wearing a long-sleeved blue- and-white-striped polo shirt, blue jeans, and a dark blue baseball hat.
