Veteran attorney appointed to the Commission on Judicial Conduct

John J. Carroll, a Lincoln resident who has practiced law for nearly 40 years, has been appointed to the Commission on Judicial Conduct, which investigates allegations of misconduct by Massachusetts judges, the Supreme Judicial Court announced today.

Carroll graduated from Boston University Law School in 1974 and passed the state bar exam that year. Prior to that, he served as a lieutenant in the US Navy and graduated from Boston College in 1968.

He is one of three attorneys appointed to the commission by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court, Robert A. Mulligan. The commission also includes three judges that are appointed to the commission by the Supreme Judicial Court and three laypersons that are appointed by the governor, all for six-year terms, the court said.

Carroll will begin his duties on the commission on Nov. 1, the court said. He has served as an alternate member of the commission since 2008.

Carroll presently serves on the board of directors of Greater Boston Legal Services and was a 2008 recipient of the President’s Award of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation.
