Ten arrested in Springfield sting
An all-day sting at several residences in Springfield Friday led to arrest of 10 people and the confiscation of illegal weapons, heroin, and more than $1,000 in cash, State Police said.
The operation, conducted by State Police in coordination with the Springfield Police Department and federal law enforcement, began early Friday at homes on Newland and Lowell Streets and went late into the night, according to a statement from State Police.
The people arrested face numerous charges such as assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of drugs and ammunition, domestic violence, escape from a detention facility, and motor vehicle theft.
The suspects, who include a 15-year-old minor, will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
State, city, and federal officers also confiscated two illegally possessed hand guns, 12 grams of heroin, $1,100 in cash, and .12-gauge shotgun shells, the statement said.
