Group of State Police troopers off to New Jersey to help Hurricane Sandy cleanup

A contingent of Massachusetts State Police troopers traveled to New Jersey on Saturday to assist authorities in areas ravaged by Hurricane Sandy. Twenty-five troopers will spend the next week helping New Jersey law enforcement officers patrol parts of the state that were damaged by the storm, State Police said in a statement. They brought cruisers and will stay in military barracks in Fort Dix, N.J., according to State Police. Members of the contingent belong to the Division of Field Services, State Police said, and some are part of the agency’s Special Emergency Response Team.
