Two killed in early-morning Oxford crash

Two Oxford residents were killed when the car they were in veered off the road and struck a telephone pole early Saturday morning, according to Oxford police.

Tyler Menard, 26, of Oxford, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt south on Main Street shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. The car crashed into the pole near 123 Main St., snapping it in half, police said.

Menard and his passenger, Amanda Riopel, 21, of Oxford, were both dead when emergency personnel arrived, the statement said.

It was not clear whether the two were wearing seat belts.

No other injuries were reported.

The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council and Worcester County District Attorney’s office are investigating.
