A baby girl was born early Saturday in a car parked alongside Route 9, Natick police said on the department’s Facebook page.
At about 3 a.m., Officer Christopher Showstead came upon a young couple in a stopped car on Route 9. The woman inside was in advanced labor, police said, and it was apparent that she would deliver the child before she could reach a hospital.
Showstead requested assistance, and Officers Chris Salis and Scott Wade arrived just prior to the delivery of the baby girl, who was born shortly before an ambulance arrived.
Police said mother and baby were well, but did not release their identities.
