Eastern and central parts of the state could see up to an inch of snow Tuesday
The Boston area could see up to an inch of snow Tuesday as the December holiday season approaches, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton.
Forecasts from the service earlier today said that eastern and central Massachusetts could see 2 to 4 inches, but a more recent report shows that the storm has been tracked farther south and may only dust the area with a coating to an inch of snow during the day on Tuesday.
“Basically, it’s pretty minor,” said Kevin Cadima, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Taunton. “By the evening it should be winding down.”
There was high uncertainty in the forecast while tracking the storm earlier today, said Cadima.
The storm should pull away by Wednesday when there is a slight chance of lingering snow and rain in the morning, said tonight’s National Weather Service’s web forecast.
The last snowfall Massachusetts saw was on Nov. 7, said Nicole Belk, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Taunton. Most locations that received snow during the storm only got about 1 to 3 inches, but some pockets of the state got hit harder, such as Foxborough with 5.6 inches of snow and Southbridge with 8 inches of snow, said Belk.
