Two Halifax firefighters hurt battling blaze in home
Two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze in an abandoned house in Halifax early this morning, the fire department said.
Firefighters responded to 266 Monponsett St. just after 3 a.m. and saw smoke and flames shooting from the second floor, fire officials said in a statement.
The fire started in the rear of the building. The house was abandoned and unoccupied, fire officials said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire from outside of the building with help from the Hanson, East Bridgewater, and Pembroke fire departments.
Two Halifax firefighters were taken to local hospitals for injuries sustained at the scene and were discharged a short while later, fire officials said.
The Halifax Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire with the state fire marshal’s office.
