Roxbury teenager arrested in October slaying
A Roxbury teenager was arrested this morning for fatally shooting another teenager in Roxbury in early October, Boston police said.
Rashawn Clark, 17, was arraigned today in Roxbury District Court in the slaying of Andre Matthew, 17, of Roxbury. Prosecutors believe Clark sought out Matthew with the intent to shoot him.
Clark was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, and unlawfully discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, the Suffolk district attorney’s office said.
Clark was held without bail, prosecutors said.
On the afternoon of Oct.1, Matthew was shot near 48 Bower St. Officers arriving at the scene found Matthew suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Prosecutors said that cell tower records, video surveillance footage, and other evidence suggests that Clark was called to the area and joined with others to find Matthew. Assistant District Attorney Amy Galatis said Clark shot Matthew in the head before fleeing.
The incident is still under investigation.
Clark will return to court on Dec. 27.
