15-month-old boy seriously injured in Walpole crash
A one-car accident on Interstate 95 in Walpole Saturday sent a 15-month-old Lexington boy to the hospital with serious injuries, according to a statement from State Police.
The boy, who was initially unresponsive at the scene, was revived and transported to Norwood Hospital, before being sent to Children’s Hospital in Boston, and his condition has been stabilized, according to the statement.
A five-year-old boy was also transported to Children’s Hospital with potentially serious injuries. A 36-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were injured and transported from Norwood Hospital to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, said State Police. All four passengers are from Lexington, but the statement did not say how they were related.
The crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on I-95 South in Walpole before Exit 10, where the 2007 Honda Accord carrying the four victims left the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to the statement.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and State Police are determining whether inclement weather was a factor.
