Inmate killed Sunday at Suffolk jail was serving time for assault and drug charges
Officials have released the name of the inmate who was killed Sunday following an altercation with another inmate at the South Bay House of Correction in Boston.
Alexander Callahan, 25, was taken to Boston Medical Center around 5:30 p.m. and was pronounced dead, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department said.
Callahan had been sentenced to the House of Correction on Oct. 4 on charges of assault and battery, and two counts of posession of a Class B substance, the Sheriff’s department said. His release date was June 7.
