A Needham woman was arrested on drunken driving charges after her car hit the side of a marked State Police cruiser while the trooper was protecting a highway construction crew on Route 128 in Dedham Thursday night. State Police said Lillian E. Vespa-Malkin drove into the left rear quarter of the trooper’s sport utility vehicle, heavily damaging the vehicle. The trooper, whose name was not released, was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Needham, where he was treated for neck and back injuries and released, State Police said. Vespa-Malkin was also charged with operating to endanger and was cited for a marked lanes violation.
