Malden woman arrested for five pounds of marijuana after car stopped for tinted windows
A Malden woman was arrested for possession of five pounds of marijuana after the car she was driving was stopped by State Police for having tinted windows and a missing license plate, State Police said.
State Police said they “could smell a heavy odor of fresh marijuana” when they pulled the car over on Route 1 in Saugus. A trooper asked the driver, 22-year-old Darne Ricci, to turn over any marijuana in the car.
“Ricci initially handed over a few small bags that led to the eventual discovery of five individually wrapped pounds of marijuana,” State Police said.
Ricci was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police said.
She will be arraigned in Lynn District Court Wednesday morning, said Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokeswoman for the Essex district attorney’s office.
