Dorchester men face firearms, drug charges after home is searched

Two men are facing a variety of charges after a search of their Dorchester home uncovered 268 grams of cocaine, nine guns, and 1,200 rounds of ammunition, prosecutors said.

Estuardo Castillo-Guzman, 43, and Amilcar Castillo, 45, are being held on $500,000 cash bail each after their arraignment today in Dorchester District Court.

They were arrested Tuesday after the Boston police youth violence strike force, which deals with gang violence, received a tip about the men’s Rill Street home, said Jake Wark, spokesman for District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Executing a search warrant on the home, officers found a shotgun, an AK-47, seven handguns, along with the ammunition and drugs, Wark said.

“This is what we’re referring to when we talk about the nexus of guns and drugs in Boston. The amount of firepower and narcotics in this residence is extremely disturbing,” Conley said in a statement.

Both men are charged with trafficking of a Class B substance.

The guns were stored in Castillo’s room, but he does not face any gun possession charges because he had a valid license for them, Wark said. Castillo is charged, however, with using a firearm in the commission of a felony, drug trafficking, Wark said.

Castillo-Guzman has also been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition.
