Two arrested in Dorchester home invasion; third suspect sought

Police arrested two men and are searching for a third after they forced their way into a Dorchester home Thursday and held the residents at gunpoint.

No injuries were reported during the home invasion on Livingstone Street, but several items were stolen and the incident sent several nearby schools into safe mode, police said.

Randy Soto, 22, of Boston, and Victor Baez-Lara, 21, of Roxbury, were arrested at a nearby Stop & Shop shortly after the 10 a.m. break-in Thursday when an officer saw their car and recognized it from the victims’ descriptions, the statement said.

Police recovered a gun from the car and are still searching for a third suspect who had entered the grocery store and was not caught.

The break-in occurred near four schools, Jeremiah E. Burke High, Lilla G. Frederick Pilot Middle School, King K-8 School, and Haynes Early Education Center. All enforced a safe-mode, in which no one could enter or exit the buildings until the suspects were caught, the school district said.

Soto and Baez-Lara will be charged with armed home invasion, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition. Baez-Lara was issued a citation for possession of marijuana.
