State Police today questioned the driver of a tractor-trailer, who is a suspect in a fatal hit and run on Interstate 395 in Webster that killed a 24-year-old man.

State Police said they stopped the tractor-trailer early this morning on Interstate 93 in Woburn and impounded the vehicle.

Jeremy Paige, 24, of Webster, who was struck while walking in the westbound lane of Interstate 395, was pronounced dead Tuesday night at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The hit-and-run occurred at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday on the Cudworth Road on-ramp in Webster, State Police said in a statement. Following the accident, troopers traced the truck believed to be involved to nearby LKQ Corp., an automobile parts supplier.

The company contacted the driver of the suspect vehicle, a 44-year-old Dracut man, and he voluntarily stopped the truck and waited for troopers, the statement said.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle had been involved in a collision, State Police said.

No charges have been filed at this time.
