Police probe death of woman on Cape Cod walking path
Police are investigating what caused a woman to fall dead along a walking path in Cape Cod, though foul play is not suspected, Harwich police spokesman Aram Goshgarian said.
Family members reported the 42 year-old Harwich woman missing Wednesday afternoon after she went for a walk Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. and never returned home, Goshgarian said.
A police dog located her body around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near a semi-wooded walking path near Flax Pond. Goshgarian said nothing about the scene was “obviously suspicious” that could lead investigators to think foul play was involved. Police are unsure how long the woman’s body had been there.
“It appears she went for a walk and weather had more to do with it than anything else,” he said.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.
Family members told police the woman often walks on the walking trails near Flax Pond and had recently taken up photography. Police are not yet releasing the woman’s name.
