Two men were arraigned today in Brookline District Court on armed assault to murder and other charges for allegedly stabbing and robbing a Boston University researcher on Tuesday.

Wallace Vick, 19, of Dorchester, and Shaqone Cazeau, 20, of Mattapan, were arrested Thursday. They also face charges of armed and masked robbery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The defendants requested to remain out of sight during the arraignment and stood on the stairs leading from the basement to the courtroom. Their attorneys pleaded not guilty on their clients’ behalf.

The two men were held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Wednesday.

The robbery was the latest in a series of holdups of Boston University students since the beginning of the school year, in a spate of violence that caused a wave of fear in the community.

Police made an arrest last week in connection with a Jan. 19 holdup of three students only a block away from Tuesday’s attack. And on the campus of Boston College four miles away, school police vowed to step up patrols after receiving reports of two armed robberies last week in that area.
