W. Bridgewater spa shut down in prostitution inquiry
A West Bridgewater spa under investigation for allegedly being a site for prostitution has been shut down following a raid by police and Department of Homeland Security agents on Tuesday, West Bridgewater police said.
While an officer was undercover at the 888 Spa, he was offered sex for a fee, prompting the raid, police said.
Police said they had also inspected and fined the spa in July after developing evidence that the spa at 888 West Center St. was offering sexual activity between massages and operating without a proper license, police said.
Authorities interviewed employees, people believed to be the owners, and others after the recent raid. Both detectives and Homeland Security agents continue to investigate, police said.
Police did not release the names of those believed to be the spa owners. A West Bridgewater police spokesman didn’t immediately return a message this evening. The secretary of state’s office has no record of 888 Spa and thus no listing of the company’s officers.
