Three Lexington elementary school students hurt in three-vehicle crash today
Three Lexington public school students sustained “bumps and bruises”’ when their bus was involved in a chain-reaction crash shortly after 8 a.m. today, Lexington police said.
Bus 28 was en route to the Bridge Elementary School at the time of the crash, according to police.
The three students were being taken to local hospitals for evaluation, police said.
“All students are doing fine,” Mary Ellen Dunn, assistant school superintendent for finance and business, said in a statement.
According to police, two cars collided with one another and the bus, in turn, then struck the two vehicles around 8:15 a.m.
The crash took place on Concord Avenue near Spring Street, just off a Route 2 exit ramp.
Dunn said the three students were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Their parents have been notified and have been reunited with their children.
“Teachers and staff are aware of which students were involved in the incident and are providing support as necessary,” Dunn also said.
