2 fires break out minutes apart, a block away

Moments after a house in Lynn caught fire Sunday evening, another blaze broke out at a garage about a block away, officials said. Just after 6 p.m., firefighters began to battle a two-alarm blaze at a 2½-story home at 54 Sewall St., said Stephen Archer, Lynn’s district fire chief A few minutes later, firefighters went to 287 Eastern Ave. to put out a small fire at a one-story garage. No injuries were reported in either fire. Archer said an investigation was underway into the cause of each fire and to determine the amount of damage. A year ago on March 5, a fire broke out in the garage at 54 Sewall St., according to The Daily Item newspaper in Lynn. No injuries were reported.
