Barn consumed in fire at N.H. branch of Lexington’s Wilson Farm
Firefighters are working to control a three-alarm barn fire that broke out early this morning at the Litchfield, N.H., branch of Wilson Farm, better known for its popular farm stand in Lexington, Mass.
Nobody was injured in the fire, but the maintenance barn at 144 Charles Bancroft Highway was completely consumed by the blaze, which began around 9:30 a.m., a Litchfield Fire Department dispatcher said.
“It’s a sad day. It’s unbelievable, but we’re very fortunate that nobody was hurt,” said Scott Wilson, one of the owners of Wilson Farm.
The barn housed several tractors and other maintenance equipment undergoing repair, as well as a large supply of seeds scheduled to be planted when spring finally graces New England, Wilson said.
“We’re going to have to scramble to get seed in to sow in the ground in just a few weeks,” he said.
