Cambridge woman, 49, charged with spitting at and pulling knife on fellow Red Line passenger
A Cambridge woman is facing charges for spitting on and allegedly assaulting a man with a knife on the MBTA Red Line Thursday, Transit Police said.
While traveling on an outbound Red Line train approaching Central Square MBTA Station, a male patron asked a woman to not speak so loudly on her cellphone, police said. Police allege the woman responded by assaulting the man with a knife and spitting on him.
Transit Police posted a photograph of the woman on their website, and tips from the public led to the woman’s arrest, police said.
Kelly Madden, 49, of Cambridge was arrested this morning and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, in addition to assault and battery.
Police said Madden is expected to be arraigned at Cambridge District Court today. Further information on her arraignment was not immediately available.
