Braintree karate instructor pleads not guilty to assaulting 10-year-old girl
A Braintree karate instructor pleaded not guilty today at his arraignment in Quincy District Court to charges that he indecently assaulted a 10-year-old girl in December, prosecutors said.
Millis resident Kevin Carmichael, 40, was charged with one count of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14, said David Traub, a spokesman for Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.
Carmichael was released on $2,500 cash bail and has been ordered to stay away from the victim and her family, Traub said. Carmichael’s next hearing is slated for April 25 in Quincy District Court.
Carmichael was arrested Saturday after agreeing to speak to police regarding an accusation that he indecently assaulted the student during a lesson at his Masters Self Defense Center karate school that took place several months ago, Braintree police said in a statement.Todd Feathers can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
