Commuter rail passengers evacuated at Framingham station after passengers report suspicious activity; no threat found

A commuter rail train was evacuated this morning after customers reported suspicious activity to police, MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said.

Just before 8 a.m., passengers on the inbound Worcester/Framingham Line reported that a man at the Southborough station “suggested people not board the next train,” Pesaturo said.

Transit Police responded to Framingham station at 7:50 a.m., removing the roughly 700 passengers on board to conduct a sweep of the train.

Nothing turned up from the sweep, Pesaturo said.

By 8:45 a.m., passengers were back on the train, headed to Boston.

The incident is under investigation, Pesaturo said.

“Transit Police strongly encourage MBTA customers to report any unusual activity or suspicious behavior,” Pesaturo said.

No further information was immediately available.
