Roslindale woman bitten in hand as she breaks up fight between two pit bulls
A woman was taken to Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital today after being bitten in the hand by a pit bull while she was trying to break up a fight between it and another dog, police said.
A 52-year-old woman called animal control officers to her Ridge Street apartment in Roslindale around 8:30 a.m., police said. She requested that the dog that bit her be removed, and animal control officers took custody of the 5-year-old pit bull, police said.
There was no further information on the severity of her injuries.
The woman told animal control officers that she was awakened by the sound of growling and found a 5-year-old and 13-year-old pit bull that both lived in the building fighting outside, police said.
After separating the two dogs, she attempted to pull the younger one inside and it bit her, police said.
She called her son, who managed to subdue the dogs until animal control officers arrived, police said. Police did not indicate whether she owned either dog.Todd Feathers can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow him on Twitter @ToddFeathers.
