Plymouth teen charged with texting and driving after hitting another vehicle
A Plymouth man was charged with texting while driving after his vehicle swerved across the road and struck another vehicle, according to police.
The 19-year-old was driving southbound on a state road in Manomet when he began to swerve into the northbound lane at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Captain John Rogers of the Plymouth Police Department.
The driver tried to return to the southbound lane when he slammed into the front corner of another vehicle, Rogers said.
The vehicle traveling northbound was driven by a 19-year-old Plymouth woman with her 18-year-old brother as a passenger, Rogers said. The two were taken to South Shore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Rogers said.
Rogers could not comment on the damage to either vehicle.
Police did not release the name of the driver, who was also charged with a marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a vehicle, Rogers said.
