No injuries, but traffic is delayed as freight train takes down utility pole in Taunton
A freight train derailed in Taunton this afternoon, taking down a utility pole and causing delays in traffic, police said.
The train was traveling down Ingell Street towards the town’s rock salt supply when four cars derailed, said Taunton Police Lieutenant Jim Coelho.
Police and the local electric company, Taunton Municipal Light, responded, Coelho said.
A crane will set the four cars upright Tuesday morning, Coelho said.
