A woman died this morning after being caught in the surf on a Provincetown beach, according to police.
Authorities searched Race Point Beach by land, sea, and air after receiving a 911 report at 9:06 a.m., of a woman in her 50s caught in the surf, Provincetown Police said in a statement.
Shortly after the search began, the telecommunications center received another call about a woman on the beach in the vicinity of Race Point Lighthouse, the statement said. When authorities searched that area, they discovered the body of the woman on the beach, according to police.
The Provincetown Police Department, Fire and Rescue Department, US Coast Guard, and the National Park Service all assisted in the search.
