Boston police have identified the man who was shot and killed early Saturday in Dorchester as Romeo McCubbin, 25, of Boston.
Police found McCubbin’s body near 7 Havelock St. around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement from Boston Police. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police immediately arrested and charged two men -- Omar Denton, 29, of Milton and Omar Bonner, 26, of Hyde Park -- with McCubbin’s murder.
Denton and Bonner were arrested nearby, after the two tried to flee the scene in a SUV, authorities said. Officers found two guns in the area where the suspects were arrested, police said.
Both face charges of possessing a gun illegally and resisting arrest in addition to the murder charge.
David Estrada, a Boston police spokesman, said this was the 39th homicide of the year, the 32nd involving a firearm. By this time last year, 58 homicides had been reported in Boston.Jaclyn Reiss can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
