We know where Lizz Winstead won’t be staying the next time she’s in Boston. The comedian and co-creator of “The Daily Show” performed at Johnny D’s in Davis Square Sunday, and had planned to stay at the nearby La Quinta Inn & Suites in Somerville. But soon after checking in, Winstead says she found what looked like a bed bug, a picture of which she promptly tweeted to her 63,864 followers. “This was in my hotel. It is a bed bug at La Quinta Inn in Somerville. I am no longer staying there,” Winstead tweeted. That was followed a few minutes later by this tweet: “1st thing after I compared bug to BB on Internet and they looked the same, was take pic, show clerk, ask if they had BB b4. She confirmed.” Needless to say, Winstead didn’t stay there. Monday, we called La Quinta’s corporate headquarters, and spokesperson Teresa Ferguson told us the room was inspected Monday morning by Ecolab and there was no evidence of bed bugs. “The general manager and the hotel staff are trained to look for bed bugs on a fairly regular basis, and we’ve not come across any,” said Ferguson, contradicting what the clerk told Winstead. Contacted Monday, Winstead was still itching for a fight. “I doesn’t do me any good to be the psycho on Twitter [complaining] about a hotel room, but when I called Hotels.com to move to another hotel, I could tell that the customer service person was reading from a playbook and wasn’t invested in my individual story,” she said. “When the clerk tells you they had bed bugs last year, and Hotels.com is all laissez-faire, that’s not cool. That’s when I took to Twitter.”
