Celebrated stage director Peter Sellars (above) was in Andover the other day to speak to students at his alma mater, Phillips Academy. Sellars, who graduated from the school in 1975, also received an Andover Alumni Award of Distinction during his visit, one of five famous alums chosen as inaugural recipients of the award. (The others are former President George H.W. Bush, photographer Wendy Ewald, Nobel Prize-winning chemist William Knowles, and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Stacy Schiff.) Sellars, Schiff, and Ewald attended the dinner and also taught a master class to students.
