Acid jazz pioneer Albare — a.k.a. Albert Dadon — made his Boston debut at Scullers this week, and was greeted beforehand by a crowd that included “Fresh Air” critic Milo Miles, former Globe critic (and current Berklee instructor) Steve Morse, WGBH’s Jared Bowen, designer Bless Mazarura , Boston Lyric Opera singer Lauren Lyles, and Phoenix Media’s David Bieber. . . . Celtics rookie Jared Sullinger didn’t know what was happening Thursday. Along with Courtney Lee and Jason Terry, Sullinger was at the Museum of Science with students from Brighton’s Winship Elementary School when the power suddenly went out. Rather than cancel the Read to Achieve event, the C's hung around and read in the dark. (We’re told Sullinger thought the blackout was part of the event.) . . . New Sox skipper John Farrell and players Chris Carpenter, Pedro Ciriaco, Ryan Kalish, Ryan Lavarnway, and Mark Melancon visited Boston Children’s Hospital and the Jimmy Fund Friday as part of a three-day, six-state Red Sox good-will road trip. . . . Car king Herb Chambers this week donated $50,000 toward Mayor Tom Menino’s Holiday Toy Drive, which distributes toys to needy children throughout Boston.
