Congressman-elect Joe Kennedy III weds
Newly elected congressman Joseph P. Kennedy III, 32, grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy, got hitched over the weekend. A spokeswoman told the Associated Press that Kennedy and Lauren Anne Birchfield , 28, were married Saturday at the Community Church in Corona del Mar, Calif., in a ceremony officiated by the bride’s father, the Rev. Jim Birchfield. The marriage, the first for both, comes less than a month after Kennedy defeated Republican Sean Bielat in the Massachusetts’ Fourth Congressional District race. He will take over the seat of retiring Democratic US Representative Barney Frank in January. Kennedy and Birchfield, a fellow Harvard Law School graduate from Houston, announced their engagement earlier this year. Kennedy is the son of former US Representative Joseph P. Kennedy II.
