Artie Lange talks trash about Tom Brady

When last we spoke to Artie Lange, he was in Indianapolis talking trash about Tom Brady before the Super Bowl. Well, not much has changed. In advance of his show Saturday at the Wilbur Theatre, we called the comedian and found he’s still not a fan of the Pats’ pretty boy QB. “If the Giants and the Patriots go back to the Super Bowl, that’d be good news for everyone except the Patriots,” said Lange. “I love that Tom Brady has this amazing life — he’s married to a model, he looks like a model — but he can’t beat a guy who looks like Eli Manning. . . . Somewhere, right now, Eli Manning is breathing with his mouth open.” Lange, a New Jersey native, loves the Giants, but even he acknowledges that the Pats have a better shot than Big Blue at returning to the Super Bowl. And what about the Jets? “They’re really just there for amusement,” said Lange. “Rex [ Ryan ] needs to put the weight back on. His wife signed up to be married to a fat guy.” Lange, whose erratic behavior contributed to his departure from “The Howard Stern Show’’ in 2009, is doing better these days, cohosting the syndicated radio show “The Nick and Artie Show ” with Boston-bred comic Nick DiPaolo . “It’s good. Nick has that genuine Boston anger and given the opportunity, he will insult me,” said Lange. “The tension between us comes through on the air.” Be warned: At the Wilbur, he won’t refrain from talking about his well-chronicled drug and alcohol problems. “Heroin, my trip to rehab, my trip to a psych ward, it’s all in there,” said Lange, who’s finished the sequel to his best-selling book, “Too Fat to Fish.” “It’s called ‘Crash and Burn.’ It wasn’t a lot of fun to write, but it was therapeutic.”
