Steven Tyler auditions on ‘American Idol’

Steven Tyler and Nicki Minaj have apparently patched things up. On Thursday’s episode of “American Idol,” the Aerosmith singer donned a blond wig and a dress — something tells us he’s done that before — to audition for judges Minaj, Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, and Keith Urban. Looking like a cross between Gena Rowlands and Christopher Walken, Tyler introduced himself, in a husky whisper, as “Pepper LaBeija from the House of LaBeija.” (LaBeija was a drag queen and fashion designer who was featured in the documentary “Paris Is Burning.”) The judges were not fooled, but they were amused. Minaj, you’ll recall, labeled Tyler a racist after he questioned whether she and Carey have what it takes to recognize talent.
