Valuable painting back on the wall at the Parkman House

Did you catch Mayor Tom Menino on “Antiques Roadshow” the other night? The episode that was taped last summer finally aired, and there’s a little follow-up. Menino, you’ll recall, brought in a painting — a landscape of a sleepy Vermont town nestled in snow — that had been hanging for years on a wall at Boston’s historic Parkman House, and it was appraised by Colleene Fesko at $50,000. At the taping, Menino said he had no plans to sell the painting, but he would get it insured. Tuesday, a spokesperson for the mayor told us that Hizzoner, who’s a big fan of the PBS show, did, in fact, get the painting insured and it’s now back on the wall at the Parkman House.
