Mark Wahlberg moves forward with reality TV projects, begins filming MIT show

Mark Wahlberg and his producing partners aren’t wasting any time. We’re told the pilot for “Breaking Boston,” Wahlberg’s “docu-series” about six struggling young women from Boston, is done, and another reality show, based on “The Big Bang Theory,” has been cast and began shooting Wednesday night. The show based on the popular CBS sitcom about a group of science geeks will follow several MIT students, and is being coproduced by George Zaidan, an MIT grad who writes and hosts an offbeat vlog called “Pocket Science.” Wahlberg’s coproducers are Stephen Levinson, Bill Thompson of Bill Thompson Productions Inc., and Scott Dunlop, creator and executive producer of Bravo’s “Real Housewives” series. No word on when the “Breaking Boston” pilot might air on A&E, but there’s interest in getting it on sooner rather than later. That’s in part because VH1 is set to air “Wicked Single,” a South Boston-based reality show from the producers of “Jersey Shore.” That show is expected to air next month.
