Today is John Williams’s 81st birthday. The Boston Pops is asking fans of the Oscar-winning composer and conductor to send him their best wishes at www.twitter.com/thebostonpops and www.facebook.com/thebostonpops. (Williams does not have his own Twitter account, but the Pops will pass on the messages). The Pops has also released a live recording of Williams’s Oboe Concerto written for oboist Keisuke Wakao. This version of the piece was recorded at Symphony Hall in 2011. You can find it at BSO.org.
