Luke Bryan is a star in Boston

Thanks to hits like “Country Girl (Shake It for Me),” “Drunk on You,” and “All My Friends Say,” Luke Bryan will headline a show at the Comcast Center in June. But earlier this week, the now big-time Bryan visited the considerably more snug confines of the Hard Rock Cafe to perform at a benefit show for the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center thrown by local country station WKLB. Before hitting the stage, the country singer chatted up Floating Hospital patient and huge fan Allie Hawkes, 19, (right, with Bryan). We’re told when Bryan heard how big a fan Hawkes was, he sent out for Godiva chocolates to give her. And when she asked if he would be her Valentine, he asked for her address so he could send her something special. Nice, right? Hawkes, who’s beat neuroblastoma three times since she was 6 years old and is currently being treated for osteosarcoma, said, “I haven’t smiled much lately, but this is amazing.” During a quick chat with the Globe, Bryan marveled at how his star has risen in this area specifically. “This is the truth,” the toothsome Georgia native said. “I have been in every airport in this country and I stepped off the airplane today and everybody in this airport knew me and it was amazing. It’s so flattering that I’m well known in Boston and it just puts a big smile on my face.”
