Word is HBO has ordered a pilot based on “The Leftovers,” the book by Belmont author Tom Perrotta. Vulture.com reports that the cable network will proceed with production of a pilot that, if good, would become a series. The TV project’s being co-written by Perrotta and Damon Lindelof, co-creator of “Lost.” The book is about a group of suburbanites stranded — lost, you might say — after a Rapture-like event in their town.  . . . “Promised Land,” the fracking film starring homeboys Matt Damon and John Krasinski, had its international premiere Friday at the Berlin Film Festival, and Damon’s hoping it fares better overseas. Damon told reporters that the film didn’t get ‘‘the reception that I would have hoped for’’ at home but ‘‘sometimes people find movies later on.’’
