Banana Joe, an Affenpinscher, took home the top prize at the 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday night. That’s news in Names because Joe is co-owned by Zoila Truesdale of Attleboro. Truesdale’s husband, William , is a veterinarian at Central Ave Veterinary Clinic in Seekonk, which also houses the International Canine Semen Bank where Banana Joe’s frozen semen is stored for breeding. Yeah, you read that right. The latest word on Banana Joe is that he was tapped for a cameo in Wednesday night’s performance of “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” on Broadway. The key to Joe’s victory? “He isn’t really what we call a player with other dogs but he’s absolutely fascinated with human beings,” William Truesdale told us. “He is very, very perky, playful. He’s like a little wind up toy. He just goes and goes and goes. And, of course, that’s what charms the judges.”
