‘Wicked Single’ trailer hits the Internet
The trailer for VH1’s new Boston-based reality show, “Wicked Single,” has hit YouTube and it looks wicked stupid. And that’s being charitable. The show, from the creators of such high-art entertainment as “Jersey Shore” and “Mob Wives,” seizes on the city’s worst stereotypes – and repeats them. “Work hahd, but pahty hahdah,” says a female voice as the camera pans a bar full of 20-somethings drinking and playing pool. (In the background, a milquetoast imitation of the Dropkick Murphys’s “Shipping Up to Boston” can be heard.) “I don’t care how [expletive] old I am,” says a male voice. “Life is short. You gotta live in the moment. Whatever you feel like doing, do it.” The show premieres March 17 — St. Patrick’s Day — at 11 p.m. It’s one of several reality shows set in and around Boston, including A&E’s “Southie Rules,” three docu-series being produced by Mark Wahlberg, and also “Boston’s Finest,” a show about Boston cops being produced for TNT by Wahlberg’s brother Donnie.
