Denzel Washington films in East Boston
The cast and crew of “The Equalizer” set up outside the Mobil station at the corner of Meridian and Condor streets in East Boston the other night to film a few scenes. We glimpsed costars Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz as they waited between takes, and as he was driving away later in a limo, Washington yelled to the crowd to watch the movie when it comes out. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, “The Equalizer” is about a former covert operations officer who works at a Home Depot and gets embroiled with the Russian mob after he helps a prostitute. . . . Francesco Totti — sometimes referred to as “Italy’s David Beckham” — and the rest of his AS Roma teammates had dinner with team owner Jim Pallotta at Nebo the other night. The restaurant on Atlantic Avenue is owned by Pallotta’s sisters Carla and Christine Pallotta. AS Roma, which is on a North America tour, is currently training at Wellesley College. . . . We’re told Peter Wolf is back in the studio recording a new CD with his band the Midnight Travelers. A few weeks ago, when the J. Geils Band was in New Jersey opening for Bon Jovi, Wolf, along with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and Jim James of My Morning Jacket, joined Bob Dylan onstage to sing “The Weight.” . . . Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury and former teammate Cody Ross had dinner together at Sonsie.
