Nanette Lepore likes Boston’s style
Designer Nanette Lepore was at her Newbury Street store this week showing off some of her fall fashions. Here’s one revelation: Lepore, who cohosted the event with Boston.com’s Rachel Razcka, thinks Boston is a fashionable city. “I love Boston fashion,” she said. “You’ve got such a cultural mix here . . . because there are so many universities. It’s a very chic group. And yet you sort of have this relaxed student vibe and the high-end, kind of . . . the women walking down the street in their Balmain. And you’re like, ‘Oh my god, they have that here, too!’” Lepore and her staff had a bite beforehand at Met Bar and dinner afterward at Joe Milano’s Union Oyster House. . . . Who was that exceptionally tall fellow taking the Green Line from Kenmore to North Station Thursday? Kelly Olynyk, of course. With an assist from state Transportation Secretary Richard Davey, the Celtics’ 7-footer was promoting taking public transportation to games.
