Brookline homeboy Conan O’Brien talked about his days at Harvard during the Comedy@SCA festival in Los Angeles on Sunday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, O’Brien spoke on a panel called “Smart Asses: The Harvard Lampoon in Hollywood,” and explained why he didn’t hire former Lampoon staffers when he got into late-night television. “I went out of my way not to hire Lampoon people because I thought I already had that sensibility. . . . People thought I was mad at the Lampoon; I wasn’t mad at them, I just wanted the show to have a different sensibility.” O’Brien did, of course, hire Newton’s own Louis C.K., who wrote for the show in 1993-’94.
