Cape Cod’s Zachariah Supka enjoys his ‘American Hustle’ debut
Cape Cod 10-year-old Zachariah Supka, who often performs with Plymouth’s Starcreations Theater, was in the audience with family and friends at Monday night’s preview screening of “American Hustle” at the Regal Fenway. When Supka appeared on the big screen as a young Christian Bale in the early part of the film, you could hear his fans screaming with delight. Supka tells us that casting directors went through hundreds of photos before choosing him to play a mini-Bale in the movie. He participated in a day-long shoot in Worcester for the project, and got to meet most of the film’s big stars, including Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Bradley Cooper. He only got a little bit of time with Bale, who made a brief appearance at the New York premiere of “Hustle.” “He had to go be Moses,” Supka’s mother, Lisa, explained. (Bale stars as Moses in Ridley Scott’s new film “Exodus.”) Sadly, Zach, a “Hunger Games” fan, didn’t get any time with “Hustle” actress Jennifer Lawrence. But perhaps they’ll have another project together in the future. Supka promises that he’s going to keep auditioning.
