Former judge Maria Lopez pitching scripted hourlong drama
You haven’t heard the last of Maria Lopez. We’re told the former superior court judge is headed to Tinseltown to pitch a scripted TV show loosely based on her experiences as a magistrate in Massachusetts. The hourlong drama would deal with not only nitty-gritty court cases but also the sometimes-naughty behavior of those who wear the robe. Lopez, you’ll recall, resigned from the bench in 2003 amid charges that she abused her office and lied under oath. She later became a TV judge a la Judge Wapner and Judge Judy, appearing for two seasons on “Judge Maria Lopez.” Lopez, whose husband is former Boston Phoenix publisher Stephen Mindich, is being repped by her former agent Bill Thompson and entertainment lawyer George Tobia.
